VRR on PCARS

A new racing game is hitting shelves worldwide soon by the name of ProjectCARS on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, and of course PC, and questions were raised a while back on what we would do when the time came, what I would do when it came out and blew Gran Turismo 6 out of the water. Now that it's here, and a lot of us have at least seen it, I can comfortably say I don't really care. The VRR Super GT Series won't be touching ProjectCARS. The game has 67 cars at launch, with 52 circuits. Other cars will make their way into the game through paid downloadable content every month.

I have several issues with the game, both as a gamer and as a series organizer. I've even made a detailed list.

1) No Super GT: Kinda hard for a Super GT Series to exist without having Super GT cars. And I have a stingent policy of "Don't force people to pay to race." If it comes out as DLC, great, but no thanks. I value the friendship and the loyalty of my friends and my competitors over new-gen console graphics and hype. VRR will move when a game with Super GT cars grabs our attention, not before, and not to an EA/Turn 10 hybrid money machine.

2) New-Gen: I have a PS4, and a few VRR members do too, but a lot of VRR does not, and will not have it for some time. We are a small group and it would be logistically stupid and naive to make the group smaller.

3) The Track List: Asides from a handful of international venues, the ProjectCARS track list is more dull than Driveclub. Not interested.

4) Car List: Being a fan of Super GT and open wheel, the car list offers little incentive. Insanely expensive and over glorified hyper cars, older-than-dirt lethal F1 cars, Le Mans Prototypes without a sizable GTE field, and just two small formula cars is appaling. If you're looking for a racing game, you might be looking at the wrong racing title.

With that said, ProjectCARS may still be a decent game for those that just like cars in general, and have money to throw away on DLC every month. If you're a racing fan, who doesn't have all the money in the world, hit the skip button on this game and save up for something else.
